What's with the nick? Well, that's just what I've managed to come up that one time I was desperate to create one and my mind was quite blank. A friend of mine eventually suggested that it could be anything I like: characters, colors, food, places, etc... There's the word "roma" I really like (from one of the allies in my trading card collection) but it's so common. I can't expect something like that to be available online so I added something else. This is what I've come up. Although, I can also think of it this way: the reverse of roma = amor means love. I'll just call it love for the color pink. I just have to say, though, that pink isn't my only fave color out there. hehe...
Anyway, enough of that.
My friends call me Yammie. I'm the eldest in a brood of three but can easily be mistaken as the youngest. I love art, crafts, and design. I used to dream about being an architect, designing homes and buildings and stuff like that. But I ended up with a degree in Computer Science. From my initial target, which is design, I ended up in the world of computers -- thanks to my obsession with computer games before. Anything with the word computer -- I loved. That's why I ended up a CS grad.
Ending up with a computer-related career isn't so bad. 'Til I graduated, computers were more used for programming, systems, etc. I used to get discouraged although my grades were quite high with the programming stuff. Sure there was the web but it was more on just displaying info and some pics. It was after I graduated that things looked better. Design was now an important factor in the web and I love to surf the net browsing at various websites and analyzing how interesting sites I come across with are designed or developed. I used to try to practice making them before but due to my previous tiring work schedule and limited resources, I don't get updated much on the latest web technologies. I do know what those are. I'm already starting to be familiar with them but I have a lot of catching up to do. Hopefully, I can get the chance to work more on those technologies.
Aside from surfing for interesting sites, I like to get updated with the techie stuff -- like the latest gadgets. I also used to draw with just plain paper and pencils or boards and poster colors, make crafts -- paper crafts, that is. Prints, cards, brochures, simple ads, invitations, decors -- anything related to paper, I love. I'll be posting some of my "projects" (those I've managed to take pictures of) in my works section.
If there's one thing I'd like to focus now, it'll be on improving my design skills. I hope I'll keep my focus...
